In “Os Desafinados”, film of Walter Lima Jr. that opens on this Friday, Joaquim, Rodrigo Santoro’s character, tries the artistic career in the United States. Any similarity with the actor’s history, that is doing his own international carrer, is just coincidence. “Joaquim went to the United States dreaming to do the career. I was to promote ‘Abril Despedaçado’ and ‘Bicho de Sete Cabeças’, maybe that has wakened up myself that will”, tell the actor in the press conference for the movie, today, in Rio de Janeiro.
“I think it was an unconscious dream that I had”, told Santoro, before doing other parallel with the character. “We are two adventurers”, he said, referring to Joaquim’s courage and of his own to try the life in North America.
Protagonist of hot scenes with Cláudia Abreu’s character, the actor says that faces the sensuality that exists in the script naturally. “We are friends”, he minimizes. The fans curiosity with this things don’t bother him. “I don’t feel better nor sexier than nobody, but of course is good for the ego”, he told.
In the film, Santoro, Ângelo Paes Leme, Jair Oliveira and André Moraes are the group “Os Desafinados”, that looks for space in the market in the bossa nova era. The rest of the cast are Selton Mello as the friend that want to be film director, Alessandra Negrini as Joaquim’s wife and Cláudia Abreu playing Glória, the singer of the group that wraps up with Joaquim and other group musician.
The intense coexistence in the studios, wrapped by musical sessions of bossa nova, resulted in friendship out of the studios. “Rodrigo and André are in my marriage album”, tells Jair. “There’s a scene in the film in that Geraldo (Jair’s character) says that he thinks about having a son in two or three years. Two years later his son was born, Ângelo says.
From the history also left the will to continue the band, but this one is too difficult due the artists’ calendar. “Jair has musician’s calendar. He travels a lot! We have some ideas, but I cannot count”, he make mystery.
Santoro says that he learned piano to play Joaquim. But he doesn’t want to adventure in the musician career. “I bought a piano when I was having classes for the film and it’s still there at home. But in the other day I went to play and didn’t do anything”, he said.
